Panaji: National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) today demanded resignation of Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar and Health Minister Vishwajit Rane over the death of a six year old student.
NSUI spokesman Simran Prabhu Malkarnekar has said that a six year old student from Regina Mundi High School expired today after getting infected with Dengue.
She said that ten other students have also been tested positive, who were studying with him. The dengue spread because of the carelessness of a contractor who left his work undone leading to water contamination around the school which caused mosquito breeding, Malkarnekar said.
“The health department of Goa has been careless to ensure safety of the people of Goa with the recent incident of formalin in fish, but the incident of dengue cannot has to be taken by utter seriousness, the department must taken full responsibility of the carelessness,” she added.
“We demand immediate action from the Health department, education department and the chief minister of Goa to ensure safety of the students of Goa,” NSUI has said.
“The NSUI Goa will be writing to the HRD minister of India and PM against the carelessness of the Chief Minister of Goa and the Health department and demand for resignation of the Chief Minister and Health Minister for their irresponsibility,” said NSUI Goa President Ahraz Mulla.
