Panaji: The Anti-Narcotics Police (ANC) on Monday night arrested a 45-year-old German national at Small Vagator village in North Goa for possessing drugs worth Rs 23.95 lakh.
Addressing a press conference on Tuesday, Superintendent of Police (ANC) Tikam Singh Verma said that German national Sebastian Hesler was arrested for possessing narcotics such as LSD blot papers, ketamine powder, ketamine liquid, and two kgs of ganja, all worth Rs 23,95,000.
Verma said that the accused had been living in Goa on a tourist visa since November last year.
The SP said that last month, the ANC had arrested a West Bengal native named Agni Sengupta for possession of a commercial quantity of MDMA and a variable quantity of cocaine worth Rs 7.5 lakh.
He said that following the investigation into Sengupta’s arrest and the subsequent collection of intelligence through human and technical surveillance, the Anti-Narcotics Cell managed to zero in on the German national.
Verma stated that a week-long surveillance was maintained on the accused, and late Monday night, his rented premises was raided, during which he was found in possession of the drugs.
The raid was led by PSI Dindayalnath Redkar, assisted by HC Cedric Fernandes, PCs Vishal Shuttle, Amit Salunke, Akshay Naik, and LPC Jyoti Naik, under the supervision of PI Sanjith Pillai and the monitoring and guidance of DySP Nerlon Albuquerque and SP Verma.
