Aam Aadmi Party while asking Science and Technology Minister Michael Lobo to first consult people in his constituency before promising to shift the marina to his constituency also cautioned him that experimenting with the natural geography of Goa will have disastrous repercussions .
As the people of Nauxim have vehemently objected to the marina coming up in their village and even Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant taking cognisance of the objections has agreed to drop setting up a marina in Goa, Michael Lobo has suddenly suggested that it be set up in his constituency.
While pointing out that people of Calangute and Candolim are suffering due to tourism, AAP calangute ZP candidate Manuel Cardozo advised Michael not to overburden the suffering people with another project that has no benefit to Goa or Goans under the guise of attracting tourists.
“Calangute and Candolim are reeling under the unplanned tourism development in the area as crime has taken centre stage with drug use being rampant and prostitution ruling the roost,” said AAP Calangute ZP candidate Manuel Cardozo, cautioning that Calangute, Candolim will be facing doomsday if the marina is shifted there.
“People of Nauxim have objected to setting up marina in their village and any any new policy or projects needs to be initiated only after due consultation with the public and approval from them not solely on the basis of financial implications but as per the will of the people and stakeholders.” said AAP Soccorro ZP candidate Mario Cordeiro.
“While state is speaking of being aatmanirbhar, self sustaining in food etc, the minister has only plans to subvert agriculture fields for profiteering. The agriculture fields are being destroyed systematically in calangute under the patronage of ruling dispensation.” Said AAP member Pujan Malvankar
Manuel Cardozo pointed out that the Bhartiya Janata Party government in Goa is on the back foot and facing severe opposition to its anti people projects is busy assuring Goans that they will cancel the projects opposed by the people and wondered how Michael Lobo could suggest establishing the marina in his constituency.
