Panaji: Chief minister Pramod Sawant on Thursday took on the political opponents accusing them of maligning image of the state nationally over the issues like COVID-19 and law and order.

Sawant said that the people will “teach lesson” to such politicians, who were busy maligning the image of the state nationally through their social media accounts.

The chief minister was addressing a function organised to mark inauguration of a police station at St Cruz village.

“Politicians should criticise other politicians, not the department officials who are working round the clock. I have a habit of facing unnecessary criticism,” he said.

Sawant said that “some politicians” should not indulge in maligning the image of Goa, nationally. “Through their posts on social media like twitter, they are maligning the image of the state,” the chief minister said.

“May be on the tourism front, educational front or COVID-19, there are attempts to spoil the image of Goa,” he added.

“People will teach lessons for such politicians,” he said indirectly referring to the upcoming Assembly election.

Sawant admitted that there was an issue as far as Oxygen supply is concerned during COVID-19 peak. “No one imagined that the demand of Oxygen would increase this manifold,” he said, adding that the issue was sorted within two days.

“Now, when the issue was solved, no one congratulated for solving the issue in record time,” the chief minister said.
