Navelim: Covid-19 cases are on the rise and November and December will be a very difficult time for Goa.We are still in the midst of the pandemic and reopening of schools can be fatal as witnessed in other countries, said Navelim MLA Luizinho Faleiro.
“When Coronavirus came knocking at our doors early this year, it was soon followed by “precautionary lockdowns”. We are still in the midst of the pandemic and reopening of schools can be fatal as witnessed in other countries,” he added.
Stating that the government’s thoughts towards reopening of schools with precautions is ‘blatantly wrong’ Faleiro said, “
Government hospitals are overflowing with patients, patients have to be treated at home even. The government coming up with standard operating procedures to open educational institutions is blatantly wrong.”
“Parents are reluctant about sending their children to school. Hence, the government should meet with all stakeholders such as PTA’s , school management, student bodies etc before taking any decisions on the reopening of schools in the state,” Faleiro opined.
