Panaji : Sunaparanta Goa Centre for the Arts
in Panaji from September 8 to November 20 is set to hold photographic exhibition, ‘Goa: A time that was’ by Ipshita Maitra, Waswo X Waswo and Dr Vishvesh Prabhakar Kandolkar.
Photographic exhibition will visit three different phases in Goa’s history and invite a reflection into the cultural identity of a place which is holding on to its past while charting its path for the future. The exhibition will be open from 10 am to 6.30 pm.
Ipshita Maitra showcases a twopart collection – ‘Lost addresses’ and ‘Once was home’ – chronicling the changes in the ethnographic, ancestral, geographic landscape. Waswo X Waswo in collaboration with Rajesh Soni
will bring together two distinct styles – the vintage studio portrait and traditional photo hand colouring in this personal memoir of
his years spent in Goa.
Remembrances is an autobiographical
series in which monochromatic images depicting rural life are juxtaposed with two miniature figures (the lovers) painted into
the scene by Waswo’s another collaborator, miniaturist R Vijay.
A site-specific installation by Dr Vishvesh Prabhakar Kandolkar presents his ongoing research into the afterlife of the Basilica of
Bom Jesus, one of the few surviving monuments in Old Goa and an emblem of Indo-Portuguese aesthetics.
