Panaji: Congress party in Goa on Saturday said that the voters in the state will show their angst against BJP-led government during upcoming Zilla Panchayat election, scheduled on March 22.
Goa Congress Chief Girish Chodankar said that the party has fielded 38 seats while it is supporting two Independent candidates for the ZP election.
He said that the party, which had won majority seats in 2017 assembly election, saw BJP buying out MLAs by paying them.
“Total 13 MLAs have changed side from our party to BJP. There is strong anger amongst the people from these constituencies in particular and Goa in general,” Chodankar said.
“The upcoming Zilla Panchayat election will see voting which will reflect the anger of the people,” he said adding that majority of the candidates fielded by the party will win.
He also said that the party has selected candidates, with the precaution, that they don’t fall pray to the luring tactics of BJP once they are elected.
“There were attempts made by BJP to buy our candidates even before they filed the nomination,” Chodankar said.
