Patients with only prior appointments to be allowed as OPD resumes at GMC

Panaji: After suspending its regular services to contain the coronavirus, Goa Medical College (GMC) and hospital has restarted its out-patient departments (OPD) but only those with prior appointments will be allowed.

GMC Dean Dr S M Bandekar informed that 50% of the crowd has reduced as consultations are happening with appointments. Patients either have to take appointments over the phone or can come physically and book appointments beforehand; certain protocols have to be maintained for consultations, sources said.

“Just in case somebody comes without prior appointment, they are not sent back but taken into consultation after patients with appointment,” Dr Bandekar added.

The hospital authorities have also requested people to visit only with prior appointments. The OPD services were stopped in view of the rise in cases of Covid-19.
