Goa Surpasses All in Per Capita Income, GDP, and Literacy: CM Pramod Sawant

Panaji: Chief minister Pramod Sawant on Friday said that the state is proud to have surpassed everyone on the parameters of per capita income, higher GDP and hundred per cent literacy.

Sawant was addressing the Regional Rural Workshop 2025 under Pradhan Mantri Gramin Awas Yojana in presence of Union minister of State for Rural Development and Communication Pemmasani Chandrasekhar in Panaji on Friday.

“When you come to Goa, it is necessary that you should be knowing about the state,” Sawant said adding that the state was known for Sun, Sand and Sea.

“Now, we have added another S to it in the form of spirituality. We are promoting spiritual tourism in the state,” he said.

Sawant said that the state is spread over 3702 square metres area , which could be compared to a district in any of the bigger state.

“But I would like to say that as far as Highest Per Capita Income is concerned, High Gross Domestic Product, Hundred per cent literacy is concerned, we have surpassed everyone,” the chief minister said.

“I can say that proudly,” Sawant said.

Speaking further, Sawant said that Goa is a pioneering state in sustainable development. It is the first coastal state to submit an eco-sensitive zone plan to the centre, he added.
Sawant said that the state is committed to Housing for All and will soon launch a subsidised housing scheme for the citizens.

“Notably, Goa is the first state to implement hundred per cent of central government schemes, benefitting 90 per cent our population,” he added.
