Panaji: Health Minister Vishwajit Rane on Saturday ordered the suspension of a high-ranking medical officer at Goa Medical College and Hospital near here, accusing him of allegedly misbehaving with the patients.
Rane was on a surprise visit to the GMCH on Saturday when the incident happened.
Accompanied by Dr Rajesh Patil, Medical Superintendent of GMCH, Rane walked into the casualty of the apex hospital after he received a complaint about doctor misbehaving with the patient.
Pulling up the doctor for his behaviour, Rane said “You learn to control your tongue, you are a doctor.”
“I generally don’t lose my cool but you have to behave yourself. However you are loaded you have to behave with the patients. You should behave properly with the patient,” said the minister, whose video has gone viral on social media.
The minister is seen telling the doctor that he should understand that you are here to serve humanity.
“Replace him with another CMO, I will sign the file for his suspension,” he asked Dr Patil.
He further said “You are the doctor to serve poor people here.”
“I want him to be suspended immediatelyI usually don’t behave rude but I can’t tolerate this,” he added.
In a five minute long video, the minister is seen walking in the premises of GMCH, located at Bambolim village near Panaji.
This is state’s apex medical college with more than 1,000-bedded facility catering to the patients from Goa besides those arriving here for neighbouring areas of Maharashtra and Karnataka.
