Now Govt to set up Street Food Hubs in Goa

Panaji: Health Secretary Ashok Kumar today announced government plan to set up street food hub in four cities of Goa, where basic facility for food safety will be provided.

Kumar, who was speaking on the occasion of the Wold Food Safety Day, said that government also intends to bring local ‘Pao’ sellers within the purview of Directorate of Food and Drugs Administration (FDA) to ensure that they meet the food safety norms prescribe by FDA.

He said that government has outlined the plans keeping in mind food safety. He said that the authorities’ key focus areas were on food safety in Civil Supplies, Women and Child Development and Urban Development sectors etc.

Kumar also informed that that they are preparing a standard operating procedure which will be given to the Directorate of Women and Child Development for Angadwadis so that the staff is aware of how food is to be prepared, stored etc.
