Panaji: Union Minister of State for Sports and Youth Affairs Kiren Rijiju on Saturday that the upcoming National Games scheduled Goa would be one of the best ever.
Goa would host upcoming National Games between October 20 to November 4, 2020 for which the infrastructure is being created in the State.
“The National games are already awarded to Goa but due to some issues, which were not deliberate, it got delayed,” Rijiju said talking to reporters at the sidelines of “Cyclothon” which was held in Panaji as a part of “Fit India” initiative.
The union minister said that new chief minister Pramod Sawant has already taken up preparations for the national games on war footing.
“Preparations are going on war footing scale. I will take review meeting during my current visit to Goa,” he said.
“We will ensure that upcoming national games in Goa would be best ever national games in India. That I can assure because our CM is very committed to make Goa a sporting and fit state,” he said.
The minister said that the union government will extend full support to Goa to host the National Games. “We will work together,” he said.
The minister during his visit would be visiting National Games stadium at South Goa on Saturday evening.
