Panaji: John Nazareth, former President of Govt Employees Association, on Tuesday joined Congress.

GPCC President Girish Chodankar welcomed him in the party fold and said that while he was heading Goa Government Employees Association, Nazareth was working tirelessly to give justice to his colleague.

Agnel Fernandes, Rudolf Fernandes, Tulio Dsouza, Block President Sushant Govekar and others were present on the occasion.

Chodankar said that government servants are not happy with the functioning of this government. “But they can’t raise their voice against it. Their voices are suppressed. However, we hope that our leader John Nazareth will help them to get justice.” He said.

Chodankar also said that Nazareth will strengthen St Cruz Constituency and has followers across the state and hence it will help them to reach the work of Congress party to this section.

Nazareth said that he worked sincerely, when he was heading GGEA. “Congress has done a lot of development in Goa. We should not forget it. Now the BJP government has given nothing for Goans, but has given inflation.” He said.

He also said that new political parties who have come in Goa are on tour in Goa and are only to divide votes. “These parties have no future.” He said.

He said that Goans have only the option to choose Congress to arrest inflation and other problems faced by people. “We need to unite and defeat the BJP.” He said.

Rudolf Fernandes also spoke on the occasion.
