Ponda: In what seems to be a bizarre incident, Ponda-based MGP leader Dr Ketan Bhatikar was stopped from sanitization of the building along with panch member Sharmila Sangonkar by a senior District Administration officer.
Deputy Collector Ponda entered into an argument and stopped Bhatikar and his team from sanitisation of the building, at the backdrop of increasing Covid-19 cases in the state. The Deputy Collector claimed that social organizations indulging into sanitisation work needs “permission from the government.”
Bhatikar said that the incident happened when his along with panch member Sharmila Sangaonkar were sanitizing Sapna Park building, which is a part of the initiative taken since long.
“The work was carried as usual which we started long back in Ponda and surrounding areas from April 2020 in Ponda and continued till date,” he said.
“We believe in maintaining healthy relationship with our opponents till date and we will continue doing so but surely not to the *dadagiri* of some government officials who work as agent of some political leaders,” Bhatikar said.
“We are ready to get arrested or corrected but will fight this tooth nail and win over such injustice,” he said.
Bhatikar said that entire Ponda is witness to the amount of sanitisation we have done from houses to flats to schools like Almeida , *Fatima* high schools and not only schools in ponda but out of ponda too .
“ When we are talking about Women empowerment, what was the reason deputy collector humiliated our panch Sharmila ?,” he said.
