Panaji: Goa BJP Chief Vinay Tendulkar on Wednesday claimed that Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar and two other ailing MLAs of BJP would attend next Session of Goa Legislative Assembly.

During a press conference in Panaji, Tendulkar also parried the question on his view about leadership change in Goa, stating that “I feel like becoming Prime Minister, but what difference does it make.”

The BJP Goa Chief said that the decision on handing the charge to anyone other than Parrikar has to be taken by party’s Central leadership.

“We (local BJP unit) are in touch with the central leader and they will take decision at the right time,” Tendulkar said reacting to a question on leadership change.

When asked about his personal opinion on the issue, the BJP leader shot back “I might feel anything but who am I to decide?”

“I feel like becoming the Prime Minister. Who does not like to be the PM. Also, you might be feeling to be the PM. But what difference does it make,” he told reporters.

Tendulkar also rubbished the claims, made by BJP’s alliance partner MGP, that CM and two other BJP MLAs Francis D’Souza and Pandurang Madkaikar are terminally ill.

“They are not terminally ill. They will attend next Session of the Assembly,” he said.

MGP, in its petition filed before the High Court to disqualify two Congress MLAs Subhash Shirodkar and Dayanand Sopte for resigning as MLA and joining BJP, has claimed that Parrikar, D’Souza and Madkaikar are terminally ill.

Reacting to Congress party’s demand of CM’s resignation, Tendulkar recalled when Congress was in power in the Centre, Sharad Pawar was the Agriculture minister.

“That time also Pawar was suffering from Cancer and getting treated abroad. But we never complained about it and never asked for his resignation,” he said.

Tendulkar said that Congress party is hungry for fame and publicity due to which they are raising this kind of demands.

“ The State government is working smoothly and all ministers are working. The speed of the work might be slow. All the ministers are doing their work,” he said.
