Dona Paula: Goa Chamber of Commerce and Industry President Manoj Caculo represented the trade during the meeting with 15th Finance Commission.

Caculo said that on behalf of the Goan industry, a representation was given to the Finance Commission.

The GCCI President has demanded that the Commission should make provision for Rs 1,000 crore to upgrade power distribution network, another Rs 200 crore for raw water and Rs 300 crore for creating safety standards in the industry.

“As the tourism industry is suffering and state government is not able to generate money required to fund it, we have asked for a special grant of Rs 1,000 crore for international level Convention Centre in Goa,” he said.’

Caculo said that the issue regarding the mining industry, which has currently been shut down, was discussed during the meeting. “Since the matter is subjudice, the commission did not make any statement on it,” he said.
