Panaji: After the taps running dry in several areas of the state including capital city of Panaji for last five days, State Public Works Department Minister Dipak Pauskar has said that the supply would be restored by Tuesday afternoon.

Pauskar told reporters that the repairs of the water pipeline that busted at Kerye village near Ponda town is getting completed by Tuesday after which the supply of water would be resumed.

He said that it would take maximum three hours for the water to reach to Panaji city.

The pipeline supplying water to Ponda and Tiswadi talukas had busted on August 15 due to the landslide that occurred after the incessant rains were witnessed in the state.

Pauskar said that the PWD workers are working on restoration of the pipeline round the clock considering the emergency of the situation.

Several hundred households have their tap running dry for last five days even as state government has began providing water tankers to the residents. Panaji is amongst the worst affected area due to water scarcity.
