Panaji: Goa Pradesh Youth Congress Committee on Tuesday protested demanding apology by BJP leader Narendra Sawaikar for his statement against Archbishop of Goa and Daman.

The protesting congress workers also demanded that the minority community MLAs who have joined BJP en-mass should resign and re-contest on the BJP ticket.

GPYCC President Varad Mardolkar said that Sawaikar through his statements have insulted minority community of the state.

“He has stooped down to the lowest level to defend the wrong step of passing CAA taken by his government,” he said.

Congress leader Urfan Mulla said that minority community MLAs who left Congress to join BJP should resign and show by getting re-elected on BJP ticket.

“People are waiting for these traitors,” he said.

He also said that timing of chief minister Pramod Sawant to impose section 144 of CrPC in the state clashes with the statement of Sawaikar. He was knowing that the minority community including muslims had disapproved the statement of Sawaikar.
