Panaji: Congress party has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his immediate intervention in the Mhadei water diversion issue.

Former Congress Union Minister for Law Ramakant Khalap said that he has written a letter to Prime Minister seeking his immediate intervention in the Mhadei fiasco by Javadekar.

“We have demanded that PM should investigate as under what circumstances the Environment clearance letter was given to Karnataka project when the matter is pending before Supreme Court,” he said.

We have also asked PM to issue immediate directions to withdraw all the consents granted to Kalasa-Bhandura project and also to stop ongoing work at the site, Khalap said.

Leader of Opposition Digamber Kamat condemned Javadekar action of forming the Committee without withdrawing or keeping in abeyance the letter issued to Karnataka.

“This is a total injustice done to the State of Goa. We all need to condemn this act,” Kamat said.
