Panaji: Even as the deaths of two tourists at Vagatore near Sunburn Festival has caused discomfort to the government, Goa Medical College has kept its specially procured unit to detect drug overdose in corpse is left unutilized.
Randox Evidence Indicator, a machine that can indicate whether the body had drug over, was procured four years back by Forensic Medicine Department of GMC.
The machine costed Rs 1.25crore but was hardly used. Sources stated that the machine was used only twice or thrice and thereafter left unused.
If used, the machine can detect drug overdose in few minutes using blood sample of the corpse.
