Porvorim: When Chief minister Manohar Parrikar could not attend the Question Hour for the ongoing Assembly session, Goa Forward Party President Vijai Sardesai filled up the space.

Though Speaker Pramod Sawant postponed four questions which were related to Urban Development Ministry, Sardesai held the fort during Question Hour in absence of the chief minister.

Sources stated that CM had gone for his regular weekly check up and hence could not make it up for the Question Hour.

After dropping four questions, the rest were related to Town and Country Planning department. Sardesai replied extensively to the questions related to the illegal sub division of the plots and constructions in them.

The minister said that around one crore square metre of land has been illegally sub divided and sold as the plots. Sardesai said that the amendment to the TCP act will take care of all the illegalities.

“We have amended the act so those constructions which are in contravention to the Regional Plan will be dealt sternly and FIR would be filed against them.  We have also prescribed heavy fine and even imprisonment for the violators,” he said.

At the same time, Sardesai said that those poor people who have constructed the houses in smaller plots would be given relief.
