Valpoi CHC sanitised after one patient test positive for covid-19 infection

Valpoi: Entire premises of Community Health Center Valpoi was sanitised after one positive patient visited flu opd.

One police person who is a resident of Valpoi, working at Mangur hill was found positive. According to information received he was posted at mangur hills since last week and had given his swab sample at Chicalim Vasco, at late night on Wednesday he returned to his home at Valpoi. On Thursday as the results were not known to him he visited CHC Valpoi flu OPD where he was examined by the doctor and sent back home. Later in the afternoon, the test result came positive.

Acting on it health officials from CHC Valpoi quarantine his family and shifted him to Covid Care Centre at Shiroda.

Medical Officer Incharge of CHC Valpoi Dr Shyam Kankonkar said as soon as we got to know about a movement of the positive patient in the hospital, Health Minister and Valpoi MLA Mr Vishwajit Rane acted quickly and alerted agencies to sanitize our entire hospital. Minister also helped us in taking all the necessary steps. Contact tracing was quickly initiated and the patient was shifted to covid care centre. All the close contact are quarantine and by tomorrow morning all the contact will be tested.

Reacting on the panic situation in Valpoi Dr Kakonkar said people should not panic and privacy of the patient should be maintained. The person tested positive today is a frontline hero, he became positive while serving for the people of our state. We should respect him and his family. I request people to show love and respect for the pandemic fighter as this workers are the foot soldiers in the war against Covid 19.
