Panaji: Goa Crime Branch officials have arrested a 24-year-old Odisha native and detained a 17-year-old boy after allegedly seizing over 10.7 kg of ganja worth around Rs 10.5 lakh from them at an interstate bus terminal in Mapusa, police said on Saturday.
The raid was conducted at the Interstate Bus Terminal in Mapusa between 6:19 pm and 9:25 pm on Friday by a team led by Crime Branch Police Inspector Vikas Deykar, they said.
The accused, identified as Gokula Jena (24), a resident of Baleshwar district in Odisha, and the juvenile were allegedly found carrying 10.754 kg of suspected ganja concealed in a shoulder bag and a hand trolley, according to police.
Police alleged that Jena had used the juvenile for carrying or supplying the narcotic substance.
The seized material was attached under a search and seizure panchanama, police said.
A case has been registered at the Crime Branch police station under Section 22(b)(ii)(B) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985.
Further investigation is being conducted by PI Deykar under the supervision of SP Rahul Gupta, IPS, and Jivba Dalvi, who is holding charge of DySP Crime and SP Crime, police said.
