Thank God! The patient in GMCH is not infected with Nipah

Panaji:  A Kerala native who was suspected to be suffering from Nipah and kept in isolation at Goa medical college and hospital has tested negative for the virus.

State Health Minister Vishwajit Rane said that the blood samples of the patient which were sent for testing at Pune-based labouratory has come out negative. “The patient is negative for nipah by molecular and serological methods,” the minister said.

Kerala based passenger who was passing through Goa through a train and heading to Uttar Pradesh had fallen unconscious at Thivim Railway Station, after which he was admitted to GMCH near here.

The patient had initial symptoms of Nipah virus because of which he was kept in an isolation in the GMCH.
