Restrictions on gatherings imposed in south Goa municipal elections and by-election in Velim.

Panaji : Municipal elections in Margao, Quepem, Sanguem and Marmugao Municipal Councils have been announced 23 April 2021. Similarly the bye election to ward no 4 of Velim Village Panchayat will also be held on the same day. Section 144 of Cr.P.C has been imposed in these parts.

 South Goa District Magistrate, Ruchika Katyal has announced that within the 100 meters jurisdiction from the polling booth of above mentioned Municipal Council ares and the ward 4 of velim all restaurants, Bars, Tea shops, Paan shops, Eateries and other food shops/joints, Dhabas, Gadas ect shall remain closed on 23 April 6 AM to 9 PM and on 26 april from 6 AM till the end of counting of votes.
The District Magistrate aso informed that any crowd comprising more than 5 persons within 100 meters of any polling stations on the 23rd April shall be prohibited. She also informed that these restrictions shall not apply to public servants on duty, to bonafide marriages and funeral processions.
