Margao: Goa Forward Party President, Vijai Sardesai has encouraged all Goans to put forward their ideas on how they envision Goa to be governed in the future. Sardesai called on the people to join a movement to reposition Goa to bring competence and capability to the state of affairs in Goa.
Vijai Sardesai said that he believes that “Goa needs a repositioning and should work to build a consensus among the people, by giving them a way forward that allows for their recovery, their growth and their future.” He added that “Reposition Goa is a movement on how Goans can chart their recovery as the state grapples with COVID-19, depleted finances, no jobs, and the feeling of hopelessness amongst the youth.”
To commemorate Goa’s 75th anniversary of its Revolution Day, Sardesai promised “to move Forward by honouring the sacrifice of our forefathers and all those who fought for our beautiful state; and do a repositioning of Goa.” Vijai pointed out to three main goals within the repositioning such as recovery, sustenance, and future readiness. The GFP chief highlighted his first priority under the repositioning as putting Goa on a pathway of recovery.
Vijai stated that under the BJP, Goa inherited a reputation issue. “We cannot allow Goa to be seen only through the lens of rave parties, and cheap holidays.” He added that “we need to bring back the credibility and integrity of our state. We need to bring back the respect and reverence of our people, our culture, our traditions and our way of life.”
Vijai stated that his goal is to “bring Goa back on the global map, restore the respect and honour Goans historically received, and more importantly, restore Goa’s integrity and credibility”
Vijai stressed that Goa needs an immediate intervention in sustainability which includes introducing measures to boost Goa’s economy. Sardesai highlighted that “Goans need to get their jobs back, and also have their household expenses like the price of electricity, fuel, and household goods brought under control.” He pointed out that a Team Goa government in 2022 should relook at all unnecessary state expenses and divert funds and provisions towards the benefit and welfare of Goans.
Vijai Sardesai stated that the approach to reposition Goa is not just a vision but a collective work in action. The Fatorda MLA said that “we want this to be collective exercise, and we want the people to be the central element of this repositioning.” Sardesai urged that the united opposition should come together under Team Goa and “take on the BJP to bring forward a government of competence and capability.”
