Panaji: MGP MLA Sudin Dhavalikar sometimes used to drop Vishwajit Rane to his school while late Francis D’Souza’s fancy car gave him a name of “Diamond Babush.”

Health Minister Vishwajit Rane turned nostalgic as he kept on narrating anecdotes after anecdotes about his childhood life on the floor of the House speaking on a motion to congratulate his father Pratapsingh Rane on completion of 50 years in the Assembly.

Vishwajit said that his father had cordial relationships with many of the members including Churchill Alemao, Mauvin Godinho, late Fransic D’Souza, Sudin Dhavalikar amongst others.

The motion to congratulate former Chief Minister Pratapsingh Rane was moved by Leader of Opposition Digambar Kamat during the first day of the Budget Session.

The Health minister recalled how he was reprimanded by his father during his teenage when he “yelled at a constable on duty at Chief Minister’s Residence.”

“I was yelling at one of the constable from a window which my father noticed. He immediately called me to meet him and in front of everyone, he reprimanded me,” junior Rane said.

The Health Minister, who is a BJP member, said that despite being in different political party to that of his father, his political value do not change.

He also said that Senior Rane may contest again during the upcoming Assembly election, if his supporters insist him to do so.

“People believe in me because I am his son. People have high expectations from me, which I have to fulfil,” junior Rane said.

He also recalled that during his meeting with PM Naerndra Modi, the BJP leader adviced him to work like his father.
