Panaji: The first phase of international airport at Mopa in North Goa will be commissioned in August 2022 and 23.55 per cent of the physical work on the project is completed, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said.
In a written reply tabled on the floor of the House during the first day of the Budget Session on Wednesday, Sawant said that presently construction of runway, taxiway, passenger terminal building, ATC Tower, Admin Building, Compound Wall etc is in progress.
Independent MLA Rohan Khaunte had tabled the question asking about the progress on Mopa Airport.
Sawant said that the physical progress up to 23.55 per cent on the project has been achieved. “The first phase of the airport is expected to be commissioned by August 2022,” he said.
The Chief Minister said that the project faced restraint by the courts and also COVID 19 impact leading to delay in implementation of the project.
