Porvorim: Agriculture Minister Ravi Naik told the House that total 36,075 farmers in Goa are using modern methods of farming with highly sophisticated mechanised tools across Goa.

Naik was responding to the question tabled by Congress MLA Altone D’Costa during ongoing monsoon session of the House.

In a written reply, Naik said a total of 36075 numbers of farmers are using modern methods of farming with highly sophisticated mechanized tools across Goa.

The minister said that some farmers are still using old traditional methods for farming due to Situational constraints like diverse farm size, fragmented land holdings, soil compaction etc. due to which farming using Mechanized tools does not work.

“However, the details of farmers using old traditional methods are not available with the department,” he added.
He said that incentives/Subsidy are provided to farmers using modern methods as well as old traditional methods.
