St Cruz : NGO Hope Foundation Director Inacio Domnick Pereira on Sunday filed a complaint with Old Goa Police against one Anacleto Araujo for threatening, restraining him.
Pereira had taken up a cause of encroachment by one Minguel Figuiredo at St Cruz.
As per the complaint by Pereira, the accused wrongfully restrained him, threatened him. Incidently, the accused is a Goan origin person but a Portuguese passport holder.
“I am an activist and I work towards the benefit of the society, I like to bring to your notice that I am a complainant in a land encroachment case by Minguel Figuiredo in PWD property which is acquired by PWD in the year 2001,” reads the complaint.
“The above person (accused) stopped me and told me to withdraw the complaint, failing which he would teach me a lesson if I don’t withdraw the complaint,” he said.
Pereira said that he tried to explain to the accused that the encroachment is causing lot of inconvenience to the general public due to the encroachment done by his relatives.
The issue was recently highlighted by the NGO after which PWD had taken action by taking tree in the said land under police protection against the encroachment.
