Panaji: Within five months of its commissioning, Manohar International Airport at Mopa is handling thirty per cent of state’s air traffic, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said.

Addressing NITI Ayog meeting in New Delhi on Saturday, Sawant said that the Manohar International Airport is now connected to twenty-one domestic destinations across India with direct flights.

“Four more destinations will be connected by the end of this month. With this our new airport is handling 30 per cent of total air traffic of Goa within five months of its inception,” the chief minister said.

The Greenfield Airport, located at Mopa village in North Goa, was commissioned in January, 2023.

Sawant said that the new Airport will help Goa, greatly, in attracting “more tourists and more investments.”

This is the second airport in Goa and first civilian and green field airport in the State, he said adding that  given the importance of Goa as a prime tourist destination this airport has come at the right time.

“At present Phase-1 of this airport is operational with an annual passenger handling capacity of 4.4 million,” Sawant added.
