Panaji: Stating that Law and judiciary Minister Nilesh Cabral has ignored their demand to withdraw or apologise for his ‘derogatory’ remark on lawyers for overcharging fees from their clients, Lawyers union on Friday held a protest at Azad Maidan and demanded the resignation of the Minister.
Addressing media persons, Victor Savio Briganza said, “Law Minister Nilesh Cabral’s derogatory tirade on lawyers charging more fees was condemned by lawyers union across the state and we had sought withdrawal of the statement. However, it has been two weeks since we had sought withdrawal of statement but the Minister has ignored it.”
“Thus, we now demand to sack him and the Minister should resign from his post,” Briganza added.
