IMA, IDA helps 4,200 home quarantined COVID-19 positive patients

Indian Medical Association’s Goa Unit during last one month has provided teleconsultation and support to more than 4,200 COVID-19 positive patients, who were adviced Home Isolation.

IMA Goa Chief Dr Dr. Samuel Arawattigi said that the team of 150 doctors from the association in addition to 130 from Indian Dental Association were part of the project, which completed one month of its inception on September 11.

“The project which is conceptualized on a PPP model with Government of Goa has benefited more than 4,200 patients so far,” he said.

“Out of this 4,200 patients around 38 patients needed to be shifted to nearby Civid care centre four patients  were needed to be shifted to ESI hospital in Margao and six patients were shifted to GMC,” he said.

IMA Goa has also provided paid COVID-19 care centre at a hotel in Colva village of South Goa where till now we have admitted 43 patients out of which three needed to be shifted to different Covid Care Centres and hospitals.

Another at Sangolda village (North Goa) where 58  patients were admitted.

One patient was also admitted in a paid facility at Utorda (South Goa).

“IMA Goa state with its 150 member doctors who volanteered for this project from Mormugao, Margao, Bardez, Bicholim, Tiswadi, Curchorem, Quepem, Sanguem (CQS) and  Ponda branches have provided relentless gratuitous service to the covid 19 patients guiding them throughout with medical advice and counseling round the clock during their 17 days home isolation period,” he said.

He said that IMA Goa State also received complete support of 130 doctors from Indian Dental Association, Goa State led ably by Dr Ivy Coutinho, President and Dr Onkar Shetye, the secretary, he said.

“They looked after and monitored patients from Sattari, sanquelim and Candolim under the valuable guidance of the expert doctors of IMA Goa  state to  ensure that the home isolated citizens of the state are restored to health by monitoring the vital parameters,” he stated.

IMA Goa has said that the doctors from AYUSH branch should also join the project, he added.

“IMA Goa state also wants doctors from Ayush branch to join this  innovative project and are in touch with their associations.

Our penal of experts include Dr Rajesh naik  ( consultant physician), Dr Anil Mehendrita (pulmonologist), Dr Sandip Naik ( pulmonologist), Dr Rajesh Javerani ( consultant physician), Dr Shekhar salkar (Oncosurgeon), Dr Sudhir Shet ( consultant physician), Dr Suraj Prabhudesai (lap surgeon ), Dr Sarvesh Dubhashi (Sonologist ), Dr Pradnya Kakodkar, Dr Pranay Budkule and Dr melisa who were in Constant touch with All doctors.
