Panaji: While asserting that the state will not ban any tourists from arriving in the state during new year season, Goa Health Minister Vishwajit Rane said that the government is drawing new Standard Operating Procedure (SOPs) for the hotels, wherein they will have to designate one room for isolation, in case any of their guest tests COVID-19 positive.
Rane said that the state will not seal its borders for the guests as the tourist season is already on.
The minister said that the new SOP will be circulated to the hotel in which, if any of their guest tests positive without symptoms, than he would be kept in the Isolation Room within the hotel premises.
“We are in the process of issuing the guidelines for the hotel which will make it mandatory to have one room as an Isolation Room in each of their property,” he said.
The Health Minister was talking to reporters after meeting Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Wednesday.
Rane said that the consistent monitoring of patients in Home Isolation has resulted in decreased number of mortality due to COVID-19 infection. “We don’t get patients in a breathless stage at any more as we are monitoring health condition of each and every patient in home isolation,” he added.
Referring to the statement by AAP leader Raghav Chadha, who is on Goa tour about poor health infrastructure in Goa, Rane offered tour of state run Goa Medical College and Hospital to the leader to show the robust health infrastructure put in place by Goa government.
“I have a friend whose father stays in Delhi, he had to go out of Delhi to take covid treatment as there are no beds available there. People in Delhi have to pay for their treatment while Goa is the only state which provides completely free treatment for COVID-19,” Rane said.
“There are some people who come here and tell us stories. They want to establish base of their party in Goa. We have seen what base they have during last election,” Rane said indirectly referring to AAP.
