Valpoi: The Honda-Sattari assault case which resulted in Valpoi Police Inspector Sagar Ekoskar being asked to proceed on long leave took a different turn on Monday. GAKUVEDH, an association representing Gawada, Kunbi, Velip and Dhangar community, demanded action against panch member Suresh Madkar for assaulting tribal youth Dattaram Gawade.

The delegation of GAKUVEDH submitted a memorandum demanding arrest of Madkar under atrocities to tribal act claiming that he had uttered castiest words to Gawade.

“I was driving the truck from Solye village to Honda, on route suddenly the panch member Suresh Madkar came and stopped me and he dragged me from the Truck and beaten and said me the very bad words on my caste,” Gawade claimed.

Another villager, Anand Gawade claimed that the action of Madkar has hurt the sentiments of the tribals.

GAKUVEDH General Secretary Rupesh Velip said that Home Minister Pramod Sawant should take stringent action against Madkar for assaulting a tribal youth.
