Goa’s active covid-19 mark crosses 500

Panaji:  With 28 new cases and 11 recoveries, the number of people active with the infection of COVID-19 crossed 500 mark in the coastal state.

State Health department official said that 28 new people with the COVID-19 infection were detected in the state on Monday, while on the same day eleven people were recovered.

He said that as on Monday, 592 total positive cases of which 507 are active and 85 have recovered in the state, which was declared as Green Zone in the first week of May.

The official said that out of 1173 samples tested, 835 were negative while 310 reports are still awaited.

The state continued fresh cases from the areas like New Vaddem, Baina and Sada in Vasco town of South Goa and Morlem and Chimbel in North Goa.

During the day, Goa chief minister Pramod Sawant had announced that the government will set up more covidcare centres across the state, including that in the stadiums.

He said that the facilities would be put in place, if more cases continue reporting in the State.
