Goa reports highest spike in COVID-19 cases, infection located across the state

Panaji: On Saturday, Goa reported the highest spike in the number of COVID-19 positive cases with 89 new persons tested with the infection on a single day.

State health department’s bulletin has mentioned that while 89 people were tested positive for COVID-19 infection, while fifty persons were recovered and sent back to their homes from different covid care facilities.

Bulletin states that out of 2237 samples that were tested on Saturday, 1240 were negative while 908 reports are still awaited.

The total number of confirmed cases has touched a mark of 1128 of which 706 are active.

Till date, the state has reported two deaths due to COVID-19 infection.

As per the information provided by Health department, the persons with COVID-19 infection have been traced across the state including state’s one of the biggest slum of Zuarinagar near Vasco town in South Goa.

In all 24 people were tested positive for COVID-19 infection during the random testing conducted by health authorities at Zuarinagar slum.

Mangor Hill, an area in Vasco town, remains to be the single largest contributor for infection in Goa. The data reveals that 267 people were detected positive for the infection from Mangor Hill till date, while 217 people were infected due to their links to this area (Mangor Hill).
