Panaji: Goa Crime Branch on Wednesday filed different complaints against two Instagram accounts for spreading religious hatred.
Superintendent of Police (Crime Branch) Nidhin Valsan told reporters that the FIR has been filed against both the account holders under section 153-A of Indian Penal Code and 67 of Information Technology Act.
He said that the Cyber Crime Police have been asked to investigate the matter and locate the account holders.
Valsan said that the police will also write to the Instagram to block both the accounts.
The matter was brought to the notice of the police by another Instagram handle, which had tagged Goa Police informing about the hateful comments made through these accounts against the majority community.
