Panaji:  Goa government on Friday disallowed a private member resolution on the floor of the House seeking to create additional revenue District in the state.

State Chief Minister Pramod Sawant told the House that it is not “feasible” to create third revenue District for the State.

“As far as policing is concerned we have created four police districts but as far as Revenue District is concerned, we don’t require an additional district,” he said.

State Revenue Minister Jeniffer Monserratte, participating in the discussion, said that considering the voting population, it is not possible to create any additional district.

She said that there is no need of having any administrative changes at this juncture.

Congress MLA Ravi Naik, while tabling the private member resolution, claimed that creation of additional district would help the facilities of the government to be taken to the doorsteps of the people.

Monserratte said that the state government is working towards getting services of the revenue department online as a part of Digital India initiative of the Prime Minister.
