Colva: Acting swiftly on the demands of the Colva locals and NGOs, Town and Country Planning Department has issued show cause notice to a person who had allegedly blocked the access of a house of a poor OBC family.

Colva villagers and NGOs on Friday had brought this issue to the notice of TCP Minister Vijai Sardesai. Within no time, Sardesai swung into action asking his department to issue show cause notice to the person who had blocked the access to the poor OBC family to their house.

Sardesai telephonically spoke to  activist Judith Almeida, MLA Churchill Alemao and had meeting with Police Inspector of Colva, Chief Town Planner Rajesh Naik and TCP officials.

The minister said that prima facie there seems to be misrepresentation done by the person who had purchased the land. “Access sought to be restricted with compound wall whose height is 1.8 metres instead of 1.5 metres,” he said asking the deparment to issue show cause notice.

The department has immediately issued notice asking the applicant to show cause in seven days why permission granted to him by TCP department should not be revoked.

“Let all know that no Goemkar will face injustice under my watch. Also directions being issued to ensure that all such cases come to my notice and not cleared at the department,” Sardesai said.

Posting the notice on his tweeter handle, Sardesai said “Show cause notice issued by TCP department as decided after today morning meeting to discuss Colva issue. We are committed to Goem, Goemkar and Goemkarponn and will ensure that no injustice is done to the weak and the poor by the strong and the rich.
