Panaji: With mining and tourism industry not showing vertical growth in the coastal state, the industry players feel that Goa government should give abundant thrust to agriculture’ to generate revenue resources.
“There should be a policy for contract farming. There should be legal provision to allow contract farming in the state so that large tracts of the land will be cultivated,” Manguirish Pai Raikar, Chairman, National Council for National Chairman, Micro Small and Medium Entreprises (MSME), ASSOCHEM said.
He said that the provision should also be made for community farming by enacting necessary laws in the assembly.
Raikar said that Goa Budget should have “inbuilt” schemes which will provide impetus to the agriculture sector.
“If you want to attract youngsters towards the agriculture, then show them that there is profit in it,” he said.
