Panaji: Goa Cricket Association is once again in the limelight for wrong reasons after parents of the players and some office bearers has objected to the appointment of Prashant Kakode as Director of Junior Cricket.
In a letter submitted to the Secretary of the GCA, the Joint Secretary Rupesh Naik has objected towards appointment of Kakode as Director of Junior Cricket pointing out to the clash of interest. Kakode’s son is a part of the Junior Team.
The objection raised by Naik mentions that the managing committee meeting held on 21st November 2022, you been a Secretary of GCA have proposed the name Mr.Prashant Kakode to be appointed as Director of Junior Cricket but, the said proposal for appointing Mr.Prashant Kakode as Director of Junior Cricket is been strongly opposed by Vice President Mr Shamba Desai on the ground of conflict of interest and also by the other members present in the said meeting have objected to the same also later he had emailed the same objections to you. But till now you had not replied to him or other Managing committee Member.
“On 24th November 2022 it surfaces from social media that President Mr. Vipul Phadke had given a appointment Letter to Mr. Prashant Kakode, In spite of Having a knowledge that Mr. Prashant Kakodes son Mr. Manish Kakode is Playing in Under 25 state team, you had given a appointment letter to Mr.Prashant Kakode.”
“Mr Manish Kakode played a Match Goa Under 25 team Against Jharkhand on 20th November 2022, Against Arunachal Pradesh on 21st November 2022, Against Bengal on 23rd November 2022, Against Uttar Pradesh on 25th November 2022, Against Delhi on 27th November 2022, Against Baroda on 29th November 2022.”
“Also currently he is in probables for U25 Multi Days matches which will start from January 2023.”
“It’s a clear case of Conflict of Interest of GCA and BCCI, It looks Secretary is not bothered about Rules framed by Apex body. It looks you are doing a favour to Mr. Prashant Kakode by flaunting all the Rules and without financial approval from the Managing Committee.”
“Also Mr. Prashat Kakode had contested the election of player cricket association to whom I had a strong feeling that he was lured by one of the office bearer to resign from the said post and was offered the post of director Junior Cricket.”
“Hence, I strongly object for the decision taken by you and request you to immediately Remove Mr. Prashant Kakode from the post of Director of Junior Cricket.”
