Margao: Days after dropping minister Govind Gaude from the state cabinet, BJP Goa President Damodar Naik said that the party will not tolerate any kind of indiscipline.
In the first ever reaction after dropping of the minister, Naik told GNH that the party will not tolerate any kind of indiscipline. “No one can say ‘aham brahmasmi’ once he becomes the minister. One has to understand that he is a party MLA first and then the minister,” the BJP leader said.
State Art and Culture Minister Govind Gaude was dropped from the cabinet on Wednesday evening. The minister was in line of fire for his alleged statement on non performance and corruption in Tribal Welfare Department, whose portfolio is with CM Pramod Sawant.
Naik, who took charge of the state unit in January this year, said that the discipline within the party will not be compromised. “If you have noticed, all our meetings are starting in time now. No one is kept waiting. All the speakers have to arrive in time,” he said.
The BJP Goa chief said that similar discipline is being enforced for those who are making public statement against the party or the government.
“We don’t say that we don’t commit mistakes. But someone is upset with some thing, there are platforms where he can voice his concern,” he said.
Naik said that the cabinet ministers should take up their concerns to the Chief minister, rather than making it public through media.
The BJP leader said that there are many leaders who have joined BJP from other political ideologies. “They have to adopt to the BJP ideology. They cannot carry their baggage of former ideologies with them,” he said.
Naik said that the cabinet reshuffle is imminent in future. “But it would be decision of the chief minister whom to drop and whom to induct,” he said.
The BJP leader said that he has been personally reviewing performance of every minister after every three months and the report of the same is forwarded to the party higher ups in Delhi.
