Panaji: Former RSS Goa chief Subhash Velingkar on Friday appeared before the Bicholim police for the second consecutive day.
Velingkar has been booked by the Bicholim police for hurting religious sentiments over his statement on St. Francis Xavier, the patron saint of Goa.
“I appeared before the investigating officer and gave all the information that they had asked for. I am cooperating with the police,” said Velingkar, whose anticipatory bail petition is pending before the Goa Bench of the Bombay High Court.
On Thursday, the court had fixed the hearing in the anticipatory bail petition of Velingkar to Tuesday, after his lawyer informed the single Bench that he is ready to cooperate with the police.
Velingkar had appeared before the police on Thursday evening for some time and later came back again on Friday morning. He was in the police station for around an hour and later went out.
When asked about his statement on St. Francis Xavier, Velingkar said that he would not like to state anything as the matter is subjudice.
More than half a dozen police complaints were filed against Velingkar last week over his statement. The protests were held at several places in the state, with people blocking the roads in Margao city during the weekend.
