First Rooftop Rainwater Harvesting and Bore well recharge Project made in Goa by Kelawade villagers Devendra Gaonkar

Sattari:The Kelawade village from Sattari is the first village in Goa,  who have harvested rainfall on rooftop and recharged borewell.

 

The Rooftop Rainwater Harvesting and Bore Well Recharge Project is a direct water recharge project. This project have took the two weeks to complete the whole work. The project is made up of three techniques, they are rooftop, surface run off, and bore well. And the project has built on the one thousand area of land. The total cost of project is twenty thousands, say villagers.

 

Through this project, till now the Kelawade villagers and village farmers have preserved and saved the fifty thousand, one hundred fifty cubic meter water(50,150) that is fifty one lakhs, fifty thousand liters of water has been preserved till date. The project were made with the collaboration of the Energy and Resources  Institute. The project made fully for the Irrigation Purpose to make the Kelawade Village a agriculture hub village in Goa.

The villagers have submitted the full report of Rooftop Rain Water Harvesting and Bore well recharge project work to the Water Resource Department, Minister and in replied the Minister extend their full support to the villagers and told them to make the likeminded good people committee based on this project. Besides this the Chief Engineer of Water Resource Department had visited in Kelawade village and have seen the project site and have appreciated the villagers for their good work. The expert advisor of this project is Santosh Gad, where as the project director is Vinay Gawas and the participated people.

According to Kelawade villagers, at the time of constructing the Anjunem Dam in Sattari, they have been rehabilited that was in 1984, and at that time then Government have built the pump house for drinking water purpose in this village. But now that pump house is not in used. So we have written a letter to our local Panchayat that to give the NOC for using pump house pump for the Rooftop Rainwater Harvesting in Kelawade village. The Kerim village panchayat have listen to our request and provided the NOC to build the Rooftop Rainwater Harvesting and the Bore well Recharge Project in Kelawade village, says a villager Vinay Gawas.
