Goa Forward Party President Vijai Sardesai has slammed the Chief Minister and his government for the complete lack of sensitivity, and gross negligence in failing to report about 200 deaths in the daily COVID-19 report. Sardesai said, “it is absolutely shocking that about 200 COVID-19 deaths have not been reported in the daily COVID-19 bulletin.” Vijai asserted that Goans deserve an immediate clarification for the missing deaths and demanded that the Chief Minister urgently provide it. “The CM cannot play with Goan lives; he should admit his failures and say he cannot do this!” Said Vijai.

“From day one, the CM has completely mismanaged and messed up the COVID-19 situation”, accused Vijai. “Instead of placing a competent medical professional as chairperson of the COVID-19 task-force, Pramod Sawant self-appointed himself as chairman. This is not a game, this is about people’s lives, and the Chief Minister has no regard or concern for Goan lives.” The Goa Forward president added.

Vijai Sardesai demanded an immediate clarification, asking the Chief Minister and whoever else is responsible, to admit their lapses and own up to their responsibilities in missing to report 200 deaths. Sardesai stated that “Goan lives are not to be played with, one death is too many for our state, and till date, Goa has lost over 3000 people.” Vijai demanded a complete audit, and called for transparency in reporting Covid-19 deaths. He emphasised the urgent need for the government to admit its fault.

Sardesai hit out saying that “the BJP led government is too focused on playing around with the elections that they have completely lost their focus on handling COVID-19 in the state.” He added, “it is clear that the people do not want this shameless government in 2022 and will welcome the need for a true Goemkar government.” Vijai highlighted that “most political parties in Goa are offering governance based on models outside of Goa, and said only the Goa Forward Party can provide a working and successful model of Goemkar governance.”
