Dona Paula: Taleigao MLA and minister Babush Monserratte cautioned the Congress leaders including MLAs Yuri Alemao, Altone D’Costa and GPCC chief Amit Patkar against politicizing the demands of vendors at Dona Paula.

Group of congress leaders comprising Alemao, D’Costa and Patkar amongst others were at Dona Paula jetty supporting the demand of the vendors to remove the main gate and other demands.

Monserratte who reached the spot said that he is with the vendors and he will address their issues. He told the opposition leaders not to politicize the issue.
The minister said that all the issues would be settled, but refused to accept the demand to remove the gate.

Monserratte also supported the decision to charge fee for the tourists to visit the jetty. He said that the money has been utilized to maintain the jetty.
“Have you seen the state of the issue, one year back?,” he questioned.
Alemao said that they were present there to address the issues of the vendors.
D’Costa said that they don’t want to politicize the issue.

When opposition members demanded that Monserratte should give assurance, the latter said that he would not give any assurance in front of the former.
“I don’t want it to be seen that I am giving assurance because you are here. Their issue would be resolved,” he said.
