Panaji: Goa Police have ordered departmental inquiry against former Sanguem police sub inspector Sudin Redkar who is currently posted in Goa Reserve Police. Deputy Superintendent of Police Sunita Sawant has began inquiry against the officer. She is conducting two inquiries.

Superintendent of Police (South) Arvind Gawas said that departmental inquiries are initiated against PSI Sudin Redkar, who is currently shunted to GRP. The Sub Inspector has been accused of kicking a man, which was seen in the video, and he is also being investigated for custodial assault on Amit Naik, a businessman from Sanguem.

Gawas said that Sunita Sawant has been conducting both the inquiries and report is awaited before taking the further action.

Redkar who was posted at Sanguem has been accused of custodial assault on Amit Naik on March 25. Naik who was taken into custody by Sanguem police in connection with the non bailable warrant by JMFC Pune was allegedly assaulted by a group of people including a policeman.

The formal complaint was filed by wife of Amit at Sanguem police station against Abhijit Desai, Ulhas Gawas, Prakash Bhagat, Somesh Dessai, Police Sub Inspector Sudin Redkar and constable Somesh Dessai.

Interestingly, Redkar had investigated his own complaint and given the clean chit. The issue was exposed by www.Goanewshub.com today. The silence of Police Inspector Sagar Ekoskar is also being questioned.

Soon after this case, Redkar was caught on camera while kicking and abusing kin of a person who had drowned at Sanguem. The video had gone viral due to which he was transferred to GRP.

In both the cases, the department has initiated inquiry against him.
