Panaji: Intensifying its protest demanding scrapping of Planning and Development Authorities (PDAs) and Regional Plan 2021, the anti-PDA protestors have announced to go on chain hunger strike from tomorrow till May 13.

The protestors under the banner Goemkar Against PDA (GAPDA) has planned hunger strike which will be held from 9.30 am to 5.30 pm on all five days at Azad Maidan.

Speaking to reporters, GAPDA member Roshan Mathias said that on May 3, they had set one week time to TCP Minister Vijai Sardesai to scrap all PDAs and RP21 and to amend the TCP Act to tune in with the 73rd and 74th amendment of the Constitution.

“However, he has failed to meet our demands till date. And hence we have decided to go on hunger strike from tomorrow,” he said.

The TCP Board will be meeting on May 16 to discuss on the crucial PDA issue, wherein it is likely to decide to withdraw all the villages from St Cruz and St Andre from the jurisdiction of Greater Panjim Planning and Development Area (GPPDA).
