Mopa: Police on Monday registered an offense against a Czech national who was attempting to board a flight at Manohar International Airport (Mopa) in North Goa while carrying a banned GPS device.
A police spokesman said the accused, Martin Polesny (54), was found with a Garmin Edge 540 GPS device in his baggage during the screening at MIA, Mopa. He was scheduled to fly to Doha on Qatar Airways flight QR 523 at 1:30 p.m. on Monday.
Police said the device found in his baggage is banned in India. “The accused could not produce any license or permission from the competent authority to use the gadget,” the spokesman said.
The Czech national has been booked under the Indian Wireless Telegraphy Act, 1933, and has been issued a notice under the relevant section of the BNS.
